To lead a healthy lifestyle, give up rice, maida and sugar and embrace organic food and millets, was the message the state government is conveying through its two-day event at the organic and millet mela, which began on Saturday.

Visitors learnt about different kinds of millets which are beneficial to health. Vijyamma, a senior citizen said that when she was young, millets were the staple food, but over the years, food habits have changed. “Now, we are going back to what we used to eat earlier. Jowar rotis were consumed in abundance which is now becoming a boon for good health,” she added.
